About Melanie Stinnett

Melanie Stinnett believes that service to her community is not a question. It is a responsibility. Raised with Missouri values and a strong sense of independence, she was taught that when something needs to be done, you get up and do it. With a steadfast voice for those most in need in our community, a vision of a government with less power over local authority, and a commonsense approach to business principles that can limit wasteful spending, she is the best choice for the future of Missouri!

Melanie graduated with her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Missouri State University. She worked for several years in both hospital systems in Springfield before deciding to open an independent pediatric speech therapy clinic. With her guidance and hard work, that clinic grew to employ over 25 people serving thousands of children. It was her experience in business and her volunteer leadership in organizations serving individuals with disabilities that led her to run for her position as State Representative. Once elected, Stinnett wasted no time, accomplishing many goals in the first two years she served.

Melanie and her husband, Nathan, enjoy spending time in the outdoors with their two young sons who are both enrolled at local schools. You can often find them hiking the trails or fishing in the Missouri rivers. Her husband and sons are a great source of inspiration for her work and service to her community.

Issues

Leadership & Fiscal Responsibility

Melanie believes in a government that lives within its means. In the Missouri House, she supported the largest income tax cut in state history—$1 billion back into the pockets of hardworking Missourians. She helped reduce unnecessary government spending by $1.5 billion, maintained over $1 billion in emergency reserves, and ensured that Missouri operates with zero state debt. She knows that Missouri doesn’t have a revenue problem—it has a spending problem—and she’s committed to protecting taxpayers from a bloated government bureaucracy.

Healthcare & Disability Advocacy

As a healthcare professional and small business owner, Melanie brings real-world experience to policymaking. She sponsored HB 970, reforming the Ticket to Work Health Assurance Program to give individuals with disabilities the opportunity to work, earn more, and build a life—without losing access to the healthcare services they need. Melanie will continue to fight for market-based healthcare solutions, protect therapy access, and advocate for individuals with disabilities and underserved Missourians.

Education & Opportunity

Melanie supports increased funding for public education and believes parents should have a stronger voice in their children’s learning. She advocates for curriculum transparency, expanded school choice, and safe, supportive learning environments. She’s also working to ensure schools have the counselors, social workers, and resource officers they need to support every student.

Public Safety & Law Enforcement

Melanie proudly backs the blue. She has supported increased funding for law enforcement, new training facilities, advanced public safety tools, and expanded resources for police and first responders. She believes that safe communities start with well-equipped officers—and she’ll continue working to ensure Missouri’s law enforcement has what it needs to keep families safe.

Jobs, Workforce & Infrastructure

Melanie helped secure major investments to reskill and upskill Missouri workers, expand job training programs, and fund career tech centers and apprenticeships. She also supported funding to grow Missouri’s semiconductor and pharmaceutical industries and bring jobs back from overseas. Additionally, she backed historic investments in infrastructure—expanding I-70 and I-44, improving rural roads, and investing in ports, waterways, and high-speed broadband across Missouri.

Protecting Fairness in Women’s Sports

Melanie believes in protecting fairness and opportunity in athletics. She has supported legislation to ensure that female athletes compete on a level playing field in Missouri schools and colleges. She will continue standing up for women and girls across the state.
